Hydrolysed Keratin
The protein hair is made of, broken into pieces small enough to reinforce it from within.
What it is
Hair is largely keratin. Hydrolysed keratin is keratin protein broken down into smaller peptides and amino acids so it can interact with the hair fibre rather than just coat it. Molecular size matters: smaller fragments can move toward the cortex where strength lives, while larger ones stay at the cuticle surface.
How it works
Reinforces the fibre
Smaller peptides are able to penetrate toward the cortex and temporarily reinforce weakened, porous or chemically-treated hair, improving strength and reducing breakage.
Smooths the surface
Larger fractions deposit on the cuticle, filling gaps in damaged scales so the surface is smoother, shinier and less prone to tangling.
The evidence
Hydrolysed proteins are well established for improving the strength, feel and manageability of damaged hair. The molecular-weight targeting Tricelleon uses is a recognised way to serve both cuticle and cortex.
'Strengthening' only means something if the protein is sized to reach the cortex, which is why SENSCERA specifies molecular weight, not just 'keratin'.
