Gentle Preservative (PE 9010)

This is a functional ingredient. It makes the formula work, feel good, or stay safe, rather than acting on the skin or hair itself. We list it because you deserve to know everything that is in the bottle.
What it is
Every water-containing product must be preserved, or it grows bacteria, yeast and mould that make it unsafe. PE 9010 is a widely-used blend of phenoxyethanol and ethylhexylglycerin, a modern, effective, broadly-tolerated preservative system, and the ethylhexylglycerin also adds a mild skin-conditioning, deodorising quality.

Preservatives protect you, not the marketing. A well-preserved product is a safe one; 'preservative-free' water-based skincare is generally an unsafe idea, not a virtue.
